Pedestrian struck and killed by train in Alburtis Aug. 25

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train Aug. 25 in Alburtis.

According to a news release from the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensics Center, Angel Luis Rivera Jr., 26, of Alburtis, was pronounced dead at the scene in the area of the accident at North Main Street and West Penn Avenue 10:30 a.m. Aug. 25.

The cause of the death was determined to be multiple blunt force injuries.

The manner of death was determined to be an accident.

According to authorities, the accident happened at approximately 9:50 a.m.

Investigating agencies include the Alburtis Police Department and Norfolk Southern Railroad.

Reportedly, Rivera was attempting to cross train tracks when he was struck.

The accident comes within a month of the death of Teresa G. Bell, 68, of Emmaus, who was struck by train in the 200 block of North Street in Emmaus July 31.

Bell was described by authorities as a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the tracks when struck.
