EHS boys soccer goes unbeaten in Bux-Mont League

The Emmaus High School boys soccer team completed a successful summer season last month, competing in both the Lehigh Valley Summer Soccer League and the Bux-Mont Summer League.

Head coach John Cari was pleased with how his group performed during the summer months in the various competitive settings they were in.

“I felt that we had a pretty successful summer,” said Cari. “We played in a couple different leagues and were able to see some different teams that will benefit us and make us better.”

Cari touched on both his varsity and junior varsity programs that both competed in various leagues and won a number of games.

“Our varsity group went undefeated in our 11-vs-11 Bux-Mont Summer League,” Cari said. “I was able to get a look at some different players and formations so we could hit the ground running for tryouts and our opening week.

“Our JV’s look impressive. They went undefeated and won the Pennridge Rams on the Ridge tournament while not letting in a goal. That group and a few others added to the roster won their division in the Lehigh Valley Summer Soccer League and played well in their loss to Whitehall’s varsity. That group, which contained a few incoming ninth graders, moved the ball well and really showed some promise. I am excited to see what this season has in store.”

The Green Hornets that competed in the LVSSL finished group play unbeaten at 9-0-1 and won Group A out of 11 teams, earning the second seed in the playoff tournament out of 16 teams. They won their first game over Palisades, but were downed in the quarterfinal round by Whitehall.

Northwestern, which was the lone other undefeated team and top seed, won the playoff tournament.

Emmaus begins their 2024 regular season at home against the Zephyrs on Tuesday, August 27.
