Egypt/Cementon: VFW plans concerts
Egypt Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293, 5209 Springmill Road, will present concerts by Waitin’ on Sundown Aug. 30 and Jimmy Leahey and the Grey Man Group Aug. 31. Both concerts begin 7 p.m.
Concert admission is free for members, but there is a cost for guests and nonmembers.
The VFW has scheduled WineFest 2024 for noon-4 p.m. Sept. 22. The event, which will be held rain or shine, will include musical entertainment by Cross Country Lines and beverages from local wineries, meaderies and cider makers. Various local organizations and businesses will have stands at WineFest.

Sunday school classes begin 10:15 a.m. Sept. 8 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 4331 Main St., Egypt. Register your children at sothlc-egypt.org.
The church’s annual blessing of the animals service is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 8. All animals are welcome but must be under control of the pet parent at all times. The service will take place on the church lawn.
In case of inclement weather, the service will be held in the fellowship hall.

Knights of Columbus Council 4050 is accepting orders for takeout chicken dinners through Sept. 12. The dinners, which consist of half of a chicken, baked potato, roll and butter, can be picked up from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 14 in the parking lot of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4102 Main St., Egypt.

Registration for Egypt Memorial Park fall 2024 softball and T-ball is open now through Sept. 15.
Egypt park’s T-ball program is for boys and girls ages 4.5 to 6. The softball program is for ages 5-18. The season runs Aug. 1-Oct. 31.

A reunion of seven decades of Egypt friends and neighbors is set for 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sept. 28 at Egypt Memorial Park.
Highlights of the event include a welcome ceremony featuring the Whitehall High School band, noon; buffet luncheon and presentation by Whitehall Historical Preservation Society 1:15 p.m.; group photos 3:30 p.m.; cake walk starting 4 p.m.; and desserts and coffee 4:30 p.m.
A deejay will be playing tunes from the decades. Games, dancing, prizes and spending time with friends are also part of the day.

There is a cost. Children age 4 and under can attend for free.
