Coplay Public Library: Library closed for Labor Day holiday

Coplay Public Library will be closed for the Labor Day holiday from Aug. 31 through Sept. 2.

It will reopen 10 a.m. Sept. 3.

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month.

It only takes a few minutes to get a library card. All you need is a form of ID, like a driver’s license. Library cards are free and may be used at 12 libraries in Lehigh and Carbon counties.

If you already have a library card, stop in and renew your card during the month.

Preschool storytimes resume Sept. 6 and 20. Preregistration is not required.

Free movie Saturdays are back! All movies start 11 a.m.

The movie schedule includes “Despicable Me 3” Sept. 7, “School of Rock” Sept. 14, “Shark School: Sea Turtles” and “A Turtle’s Tale” Sept. 21 and “High School Musical 2- Extended Cut” Sept. 28.

Don’t forget to bring your snacks!

SMP Cheesesteaks is coming to the borough. The minimart’s food truck will be at the Coplay Parkway 2-7 p.m. Sept. 17.

Drinks and baked goods will also be available for purchase.

The fall book and bake sale and basket raffle is planned for 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 4 and 5.

The library is now accepting donations of books, DVDs, CDs and puzzles. Additionally, donations of medium to large baskets are needed for the basket raffle. Call the library if you are interested in donating baked goods.

For your safety, drop off donations at the circulation desk during open hours.

Shopping passes for Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends fundraising event are here. Passes cost $5, and 100% of this donation goes to the library.

Enjoy a discount on your in-store purchases 8 a.m.-11 p.m. Oct. 22 and have a chance to win a Boscov’s gift card.

Teens and adults, the Fiber Arts and Friends group meets 1-2 p.m. Wednesdays. Learn to crochet, knit and more. All skill levels are welcome!

Bring your current project or start a new one. We have extra yarn and knitting/crochet needles for you to use if needed.

If you would like some ideas for a vacation or day trip, stop in and browse our collection of up-to-date travel brochures. You’ll find information on places to visit in Pennsylvania and several other eastern U.S. states.

In addition to borrowing items, check out our selection of fiction and nonfiction books and CDs and DVDs for sale.

Look for them on the shelves below the circulation desk and on the sale cart. Ask at the desk if you need assistance.

Need to use a computer to search for information or print something? We have six public access computers for you to use. You just need to show your library card at the front desk when you come into the library.

Use the silver drop box for returning books or media items at the front of the library when the building is closed.

There is also a purple drop box at the front of the library for Lions Club. They accept hearing aids and old glasses.

If you can’t make it into the library, use the Libby app for thousands of free reading materials. You’ll need your library card number and your PIN.

The library is open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
