Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Emmaus Remembrance Garden Sept. 7

Editor’s Note: We welcome Zoe Hulings as our Emmaus columnist. She is a senior at Emmaus High School and has been involved with journalism for four years. She has been on the staff of the Stinger, the school paper, for two years. She is the recipient of three awards for one of her stories – two at the state level and one at the national level. On Sept. 7, the Emmaus High School Class of 1964 will celebrate 60 years with a reunion 4-8 p.m. at Madeline’s Restaurant, 1250 Turnstone Drive, Fogelsville. RSVP to Joan Kollar in Emmaus, email alauden@enter.net or text 610-704-5775.
Also on Sept. 7, Party in the Garden, a 20th anniversary celebration of the Emmaus Remembrance Garden, 150 E. Main St., Emmaus, will be held 3-6 p.m. The raindate is Sept. 8. RSVP by Aug. 28 to remgarden1@gmail.com.
The St. Ann’s Church Fall Fest will be held Sept. 5, 6 and 7 at St. Ann’s School and Church in Emmaus. The event will run 5-10 p.m. Sept. 5 and 5-11 p.m. Sept. 6 and 7.
The event will have carnival rides 5-11 p.m. Sept. 4.
Fall Fest offers a variety of ethnic foods, games, live music and many more fun activities. The event is rain or shine with free admission and parking on and around the school grounds.
The Emmaus Farmers Market is held 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday, rain or shine at Triangle Park in Emmaus. The regular season is through November and the winter season begins in December.
The Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus, will be hosting free events all throughout the month of September. A crochet group meets 6 p.m. Wednesdays. Other activities include a daytime book club, Percy Jackson D&D Adventure, story time with Andy the Armadillo, a Facebook writing event, family fun story time, Find your Ancestors, a block party for preschoolers and elementary school students and their caregivers, Drawing Caricatures with Alex Clare, Alzheimers caregiver support group, career coaching, a memoir writing group and more. Library hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The library is closed on Sundays.
September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month. By joining the library you will gain access to many of the free resources the library has to offer. The library will be closed Sept. 2 for Labor Day. Visit www.emmauspl.org for more information regarding events and operating hours.
Macungie Memorial Park will host a Youth Vendor Craft Fair 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 7. The fair will feature plenty of fun vendors for kids to enjoy. Please visit www.macungiepark.com for more information and dates of other upcoming events.
The Emmaus Main Street Partners will host its annual Farewell to Summer Festival 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 21 in the Emmaus Triangle. Show up and enjoy one more final summer celebration before the fall fun begins. The annual festival will showcase local businesses, crafters and food trucks right in the heart of Emmaus.
The Emmaus Historical Society and Museum, 218 Main St., will be open toward the end of September. Call the office at 610-966-6591 to schedule a time to drop off any memorabilia.
“Take a Chance on Fun” raffle tickets are on sale now and available at all historical society events or by calling the museum. Get yours now and choose between two nights at The Bird’s Nest bed-and-breakfast or a midweek night stay at Bear Creek Mountain Resort.
The historical society’s September program and membership meeting will be 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Parish Hall, 501 Chestnut St. The program, presented by Jim Schwar, is Part Two of “The History of Jefferson School.” Programs are free and members and nonmembers are welcome to attend.
Join the Emmaus Historical Society for the annual Emmaus Heritage Festival 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 21. The historical society’s partners for this special event are Shelter House, Knauss Homestead, 1803 House, Emmaus Public Library, Emmaus Moravian Church and the Emmaus Main Street Partners. Please note this event is held the same day and time as the Emmaus Farewell Summer Festival.
The historical society program committee is looking for anyone who has memories, memorabilia or photographs of former Emmaus grocery stores. Please contact them regarding your information. Call or visit the website at www.emmaushistoricalsociety.org to complete an online membership form.
On Sept. 26, The Woman’s Club of Emmaus will hold its annual fall dessert card party 1 p.m. The card party will be held in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. This will be a dessert card party. There is an entrance fee. The community is welcome. To reserve a table, call Mary Alice at 610-392-9367.
