Audit, laboratories and the Archibald Mansion

A presentation by Campbell, Rappold & Yurasits CPA on the 2023 Audit began the Bethlehem Township Commissioners’ meeting Aug. 5.

Among the highlights: the General Fund increased by $993,562 during 2023, the next position of the Sewer Fund increased by $863,831 during 2023, and the net position of the Stormwater fund increased by $1,017,987 during 2023.

An ordinance establishing regulations for the installation, inspection and ongoing maintenance of on-lot sewage disposal systems; requiring registration of septage pumper/hauler and certified inspection businesses with Bethlehem Township; and further, providing for imposition of penalties for noncompliance and appeals for hardship situations, was passed.

Deibel Laboratories received site plan approval for 3708 Freemansburg Ave.

According to Community Development Director Samantha Smith, the building will be used “as a public health, safety food testing laboratory.”

An extension to the developer’s obligation to complete improvements, pursuant to the development agreement, for the Mowrer Road Delivery Van Parking Lot. was granted to J.G. Petrucci Company.

They now have until Sept. 19, 2025, to complete the improvements.

A similar extension was given to Lehigh Valley Health Network for lot expansion of the 2300 Highland Avenue Lot Expansion.

The granted extension is to July 14, 2025.

A winter maintenance service agreement for snowplowing was approved with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for state routes 2011 (Farmersville Road) and 2028 (Oakland Road and Green Pond Road). It is valid for five years.

Northampton Community College requested a rezoning of the agricultural property at the southeastern corner of its campus to align with the rest of the property. It received board approval.

Commissioner Michael Hudak was appointed to the internal Housenick committee.

A grant agreement between the Housenick Memorial Foundation and the township was approved to support the interior renovation of the Archibald Johnston mansion.
