Terry E. Schaffer

Egypt Veterans of Foreign Wars member

Terry “Unc” E. Schaffer, 75, of Northampton, died Aug. 14, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital-Anderson campus, Easton. He was the husband of Gail A. (Fritz) Schaffer for 28 years.

Born in Wescosville, he was the son of the late Franklin “Cowboy” H. and Annie M. (Holben) Schaffer.

His first job was picking potatoes, then as a paperboy. He started as a dishwasher at the Peter Pan diner and worked his way up to a line cook. He was last employed as a foreman for UGI, Bethlehem, for 29 years.

He served in the Vietnam War as a sergeant in the U.S. Army, Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 11th Infantry Regiment of the first Brigade, 5th Infantry Division.

He was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, Allentown.

He was a member of Egypt Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Donna M. and husband Mark Shupp of New Tripoli, Desirae M. and fiance Steph Krebs of Northampton and Christine M. and husband Paul Ruch Jr. of Coplay; two brothers, the Rev. Franklin of Emmaus and Larry and wife Nancy of Brentwood, Calif.; two grandchildren, Tyler and Kiersten; a great-granddaughter, Joan; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Norman and Robert; and two sisters, Hope Hopper and Joyce Schelly.

There will be a calling time 10-11:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service 11:30 a.m., Aug. 24 at the church, 1837 Church Road, Allentown, 18104.
