Can you lift a box that weighs up to 50 pounds? Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank is seeking an experienced delivery driver to assist in loading and unloading boxes of fresh and frozen produce to the senior center 12:30-2:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month using the food bank van. Do you enjoy presenting to small groups, speaking with people at events, working on social media posts and communicating with potential volunteers? Join American Red Cross as a volunteer recruiter to help us build our local volunteer teams who can help to carry out the mission of the Red Cross. Do you own a pickup truck or large vehicle? Community Bike Works in Allentown needs volunteers to pick up food donations between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesdays at the Whitehall ALDI on McArthur Road and deliver the donations to them. Are you interested in helping older individuals maintain their independence while providing friendly companionship? Gracedale Nursing Home, Nazareth, has varied weekly menus that residents need help with completing so they receive meals they enjoy. Flexible scheduling but must commit to at least an hour or two once a week. Training is provided. All volunteers must pass a background check and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Second Harvest Food Bank is seeking volunteers to accept donations at The Great Allentown Fair 2:30-6:30 p.m. and/or 6:30-10:30 p.m. Aug. 28. Volunteers will be posted at each of the entrance gates to collect food items from fairgoers taking advantage of the discounted admission special for opening night. Sixth Street Shelter in Allentown is seeking a dedicated volunteer to join our team as a donation coordinator 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays. Valley Youth House Mentoring Program is interested in connecting with individuals in the Lehigh Valley and Montgomery County areas who possess a strong passion for working with youth in the role of a mentor. Mentors are encouraged to participate in meetings with youth on a biweekly basis and will receive formal and informal training on Valley Youth House best practices.
