Richard A. Kunkel, 85, of Pottsville, formerly of Kempton, died peacefully Aug. 12, 2024, at Providence Place, Pottsville.

He was the husband of the late Mae A. (Schollenberger) Kunkel, who died in February 2023.

Born in Danielsville, he was the son of the late William H. and Elva (Knepper) Kunkel.

A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army from 1961-63, and later served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam Conflict.

He later worked for the Exide Corporation, Hamburg, for 38 years.

He was a member of Jacob’s Church, New Tripoli.

His survivors include several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his siblings Donald Kunkel, Marion Becker and Betty Rump.
