Lehigh Valley Active Life lists activities for August

Lehigh Valley Active Life, 1633 W. Elm St., Allentown, will offer the following dance 1-3 p.m. in the Trexler Room.

The per person fee includes refreshments.

Aug. 28: “Johnny K”

The center will also offer the following dance classes.

Aug. 22 and 29: Advanced Line Dancing led by instructor Cathy Seidel, noon.

Aug. 26: Beginner Line Dancing with instructor Peggy Sue Tobias, 12:30 p.m.

Aug. 27: Beginner Tap with instructor Grace Conti, 9 a.m.

The following creative arts classes will also be offered.

Aug. 21, 26 and 28: Arts and Crafts led by Trisha Baker, 9-11 a.m.

Aug. 21, 23, 28 and 30: Suzanne Bauder’s Art for Everyone, noon.

Help is available. New and advanced students are welcome.

Aug. 22 and 29: Knit and Chat group, 9 a.m.

Stop in, work on your own projects, knit, crochet or embroider.

Aug. 26: Drawing led by instructor Judy Peters, 9:30 a.m.

Learn how to draw with pencils in this introductory class to composition, outlining and shading.

Aug. 27: Instructor Bonny Batman’s ceramics, 9 a.m. Price includes paints.

Aug. 22 and 29: Instructor Ray Royer’s photography composition basics, 12:30 p.m.

Learn how to improve your photography using a cellphone or any camera.

The following exercise classes will be offered.

Aug. 26: Barre with instructor Michele Fisher, 10:15 a.m.

A low impact toning class that blends the principals of Pilates, yoga, strength training and ballet to activate your entire body.

Aug. 21, 26 and 28: “Zumba” led by instructor Grace Conti, 9:30 a.m.

Dancers and non-dancers will enjoy this Latin inspired, dance fitness class, which is designed for seniors.

Aug. 22, 27 and 29: Zumba with instructor Ed Nickles, 9 a.m.

Dancers and non-dancers will enjoy this Latin inspired dance fitness class, which is designed for seniors.

Aug. 22 and 29: Mat Pilates led by instructor Michele Fisher, 10:30 a.m.

A strengthening and lengthening form of exercise that focuses on the core (abdomen and lower back) muscles.

Aug. 26: Tai Chi For Balance with instructor Bob Donnelly (Pai Ma Shen), 10:30 a.m.

A holistic exercise that helps reduce stress and promote physical well-being using slow flowing movement to coordinate breath and enhance strength, balance and calmness.

Aug. 23, 26 and 30: Fit Circuit led by instructor Sara Mercer, 12:30 p.m.

This low impact circuit style class, featuring upbeat choreography mixed with strength training, is a great overall cardio workout.

Aug. 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30: Every weekday lunch meal, 11:30 a.m. Trexler Room.

There is a small fee for those age 60 and older.

Choice of hot or cold entrée. Call the day before by 9 a.m. for a reservation.
