The Salisbury Township School district is getting ready to welcome students back for the 2024-2025 school year.

Fifth grade orientation will be held Aug. 26 at Salisbury Middle School.

The first day of school for all grades is Aug. 27.

Laptops will be distributed to SMS students Aug. 28.

There is no school Aug. 30 or Sept. 2 in observance of Labor Day.

SMS picture day is Sept. 6.

Breakfast and lunch will be free of charge for all students and setup is open for students’ lunch accounts at payschools.com. Any snacks students purchase will need to be done with their account.

Salisbury cheerleading is holding an online clothing sale. Ordering closes 11:59 p.m. Aug. 26; no late orders can be accepted. All orders are expected to be delivered the week of Sept. 24. A few notes to keep in mind while shopping: All decorated merchandise is non-returnable nor exchangeable unless defective or an error was made by Kampus Klothes.

The next school board meeting will be held 7 p.m. Aug. 21 in the administration building, 1140 Salisbury Road, Allentown.

The township yard waste drop off sites are open.

The Devonshire site will be open Aug. 26, 29 and 31 and the Franko site will be open Aug. 22 and 24. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Jerusalem Western Salisbury Lutheran Church, 3441 Devonshire Road, Allentown, will host the Pioneer Band of Allentown 1 p.m. Sept. 15 for a concert, rain or shine. There will be ice cream, pretzel rods and bottled water provided. Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Harvest Home collection.

The Salisbury Township Department of Public Works began their paving project on Salisbury Road Aug. 20. Access will be limited periodically on the dead-end side of Maumee Avenue and Paxford Road.
