With the first day of school approaching for all students in the community, drivers should be aware and extra careful in the mornings, as children will be walking to bus stops while commuters are leaving for work.

The Great Allentown Fair is scheduled to run Aug. 28-Sept. 2 on the Allentown Fairgrounds at 302 N. 17th St.

Stop by and enjoy all the fair has to offer, such as rides, games, delicious food, fabulous entertainment, cooking demonstrations, livestock and agricultural demonstrations.

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3024 S. Ruch St., will be holding its annual parish picnic 1-9 p.m. Sept. 1.

Bring your lawn chairs and your appetite! There will be many delicious homemade dishes, including pierogies.

Musical entertainment will be provided by the Pennsylvania Villagers 1-4 p.m. and Joyous 5-9 p.m.

Most Stiles residents can walk to this event and are sure to meet up with friends and neighbors.
