Coplay Borough Mayor Steve Burker offered an update on the bike safety event at the Coplay Borough Council general meeting Aug. 13. The borough does not plan on hosting the event this year and is, instead, looking at hosting the event in spring of 2025.

Councilman Dean Hermany reported on a successful year for the pool with only two closed days the entire summer — Aug. 15 and 16 — due to inclement weather.

Approvals were made for the use of the upper pool parking lot for Coplay Public Library to host a SMP Mini Mart cheesesteak fundraiser, set for 2-6 p.m. Sept. 17.

Approvals were also made for the rain garden project. The approved amount of $28,000 will go toward engineering and design fees.

The next workshop and general meetings are 7 p.m. Sept. 3 and 10, respectively, at borough hall, 98 S. Fourth St.
