ED CENTER’S CENTENNIAL: The landmark building that is home to the BASD Education Center and was once Edgeboro ES, is turning 100 years old. Join the celebration on Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p m. BOARD MEETING: The August school board meeting will be held in the auditorium at East Hills MS Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be livestreamed for public viewing on the district’s YouTube channel. Members of the public must appear in person if they wish to address the school board during the public comment portion of these meetings.

NITSCHMANN OPEN HOUSE: Aug. 29, 6 p.m.

MUSICIANS ABROAD: This summer, members of the Freedom band and chorus participated in the American Music Abroad silver tour of Europe. They were among 104 students from Pennsylvania and Ohio who performed concerts while playing or singing in a concert band, jazz band, chorus, or jazz choir. They traveled for 17 days performing in Hungary, Germany, Austria and Slovenia. In addition to performing concerts, they had guided tours of many cities, toured a salt mine, visited a former concentration camp, took a gondola ride to the top of a glacier in the Alps, toured a national concert hall, and many other exciting activities.

INTERNSHIPS AVAILABLE: Fall Conservation Education Intern positions are open to undergraduate, graduate and recently graduated students. This internship is designed for anyone pursuing a career in conservation, biology, environmental science, education or a related field.
