A 79-year-old Kutztown Township woman died three weeks after being involved in a motor vehicle collision around 1:15 p.m. July 10 near 256 Rhoades Road, Greenwich Township, Berks County.

According to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio, Marilyn A. Barlip was pronounced dead at 11:15 a.m. July 29 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

The cause of her death is complications of multiple blunt force injuries due to a motor vehicle collision, Buglio said.

He said the manner of her death was ruled an accident.

According to State Police Troop L, Hamburg, Barlip was driving a 2020 Ford Escape south on Rhoades Road approaching Forest View Drive when she lost control of her vehicle.

It then crossed to the left over the north lane of Rhoades Road onto the roadside.

The front of the SUV collided with a tree on the right side of the northbound lane near the Rhoades Road residence.

Barlip was transported by Topton American Legion Community Ambulance Service to the hospital.

Barlip’s passenger Thomas Barlip, 81, also of Kutztown, sustained suspected minor injury, police say.

He was transported by Cetronia Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Police say both driver and passenger were wearing their seat belts.
