Lehigh Valley Hospital top-ranked for orthopedic, pulmonary, critical care
Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH) is one of the top hospitals in the United States for orthopedic and pulmonary and critical care, according to the 2024-2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals list.
U.S. News ranks LVH among the Top 20 hospitals in the nation for orthopedics and 40th for pulmonology and lung surgery.
LVH also ranks as the top hospital in the region for the 11th consecutive time and sixth among Pennsylvania’s Top 10 hospitals.
Additionally, U.S. News rated LVH as “high-performing” in four specialties and 16 procedures and conditions. Each “high-performing” rating means LVH is considered among the top 10 percent for that rated specialty.
U.S. News evaluated nearly 5,000 hospitals in 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. Only 11 percent of evaluated hospitals received a “Best Hospitals” ranking. Hospitals awarded a “best” designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, level of nursing care and patient experience.
“Providing world-class care to our community is something we have done for 125 years, and this recognition shows LVH is continually evolving to meet the needs of our community,” said Brian A. Nester, DO, MBA, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Jefferson, and President, Lehigh Valley Health Network.
“I am so proud of the colleagues who make this incredible achievement possible and I thank them for providing nationally ranked care to the people we are here to serve,” Nester said.
The U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings rely on information provided to Medicare claims and is not reliant on self-reported data. Additionally, its methodology puts significant focus on evaluating the quality of care provided and considers patient acuity and volumes.
