There was a presentation at the South Whitehall commissioners’ July 17 meeting for the swearing in of 23 fire police.

They voted unanimously to approve the following individuals: Shoukat Mughal, Imaan Mughal, Muqadas Mughal, Toseef Mughal, Mubashar Mughal, Noah Miller, Jennifer Friedman, Jim Gilbert, Farhad Malik, Nadeem Mahran, Aashni Chowdhury, Amy Beers, Will Schlier, Andrea Search, William Friedman, Sarah May, Bob Himes, Jose Gonzalez, Luis Perez, Daniel Luxemberg, Jacob Yeakel, Craig Eckrode and Dave Byrnes.

South Whitehall commissioners’ board President Diane Kelly commented.

“Your duties are much more expansive and diverse and the service that you give to our community expands to assist alongside our police officers, public works employees, emergency management personnel during emergencies and extreme weather, assisting with road closures, evacuations, volunteering at township events to help the movement of vehicles and speaking to residents,” she said. “You are qualified drivers for our fire apparatus.

“You assist in medical calls, you assist in accident cleanup, and storm debris mitigation.

“This is just a few of the duties I know you all have volunteered for and have very faithfully served our community, and our board wants to very gratefully thank you for your service.

“The fire police are an integral part of our emergency response team, and we are grateful for their dedicated service to our community.”
