Richard M. Boehme

of Macungie

Richard M. Boehme, 94, of Macungie, died Aug. 7, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Erika M. (Haefele) Boehme. Born in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Bavaria, Germany, he was the son of the late Johann G. and Anna B. (Kirchdoerfer) Boehme.

He attended high school in Germany until 1947, became a braumeister apprentice in Essen, Germany, in 1948, earned a GED diploma through the Army in 1955 and received his aviation dispatcher diploma in Jamaica, N.Y., in 1958.

He was employed as a brewmaster’s apprentice for different breweries in Germany, Krauss Provisions in Jamaica, N.Y., and as an aircraft dispatcher for Cubana Airlines and lastly El Al Israel Airlines for 30 years before retiring in 1992.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War, achieving a rank of Specialist 4 and became a U.S. citizen.

His loving care and devotion to his wife and family will always be remembered and held dear. He had a love of travel and traveled back to visit family and friends in Germany many times throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife; son, Richard P. and his wife, Sharon J., of Allentown; grandsons, Thomas A., of Morrisville, Andrew R., of Allentown; brother, Boris, of Stuttgart, Germany. He was predeceased by a sister, Elsa.

Services are private. Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Emmaus.
