Man, 65, found dead in his residence in Salisbury Township

A Salisbury Township resident was found dead at home Aug. 2, according to a news release from the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensics Center.

Richard A. Costello, 65, was pronounced dead 9:37 a.m., according to authorities.

An autopsy determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Costello “was found at his home during a welfare check by police, who were contacted by a concerned family member,” according to the news release.

Additional details were provided in a news release from the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office dated Aug. 6:

Salisbury police were called to a residence in the 1700 block of Illingsworth Avenue shortly after 8:30 a.m. Aug. 2.

Costello was found dead inside the residence.

The manner of death remains under investigation, according to the Aug. 6 news release.

Investigating agencies also include the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office Homicide Task Force.
