Beginning Aug. 15, setup is open for student’s lunch accounts at payschools.com. This year, breakfast and lunch will be free of charge for all students, but any snacks students opt to purchase will need to be done with their account.

There will also be a kindergarten parent orientation 5:30 p.m. Aug. 15 in the Salisbury Elementary School gymnasium. This will give you all the information needed for school at SES.

For SES students, you will also need to set up your student’s dismissal routine manager after Aug. 16. If there is the potential to pick your student up at the end of the day at all this year, you must register for this.

There will be a kindergarten meet the teacher night 7 p.m. Aug. 21. The SES PTO is also sponsoring a kindergarten playground meetup 6 p.m. right before meeting the teachers.

The next school board meeting will be held 7 p.m. Aug. 21 in the administration building, 1140 Salisbury Road, Allentown.

Please note there will be an orientation day for all incoming kindergarteners, fifth and ninth grade students Aug. 26. The first day of school for all students will be Aug. 27.

The 44th annual Roasting Ears of Corn Festival will be held at the Museum of Indian Culture, 2825 Fish Hatchery Road Aug. 17 and 18. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and join in for a weekend of Native American drumming, singing and dancing. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., rain or shine. There is a charge; seniors over 62 and children under 11 are free. This year’s activities include hands on crafts for children, atlatl and tomahawk throwing, primitive fire making, face painting, pony rides, Lenape cooking demonstrations and more.

The township yard waste drop off sites are open. The Devonshire site will be open Aug. 15 and 17 and the Franko site will be open Aug. 19, 22 and 24. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Looking ahead, Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Eastern Salisbury, 1707 Church Road, Allentown, will host bingo 2 p.m. Sept. 22 at the church. Doors open 1 p.m. For more information, contact Louise at 610-866-1611.
