Egypt/Cementon: VFW plans concerts
The concerts at Egypt Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293, 5209 Springmill Road, will feature Benny Band Aug. 16, Uncle Smiley Band Aug. 17, Chelsea Lyn Meyer Aug. 24, Waitin’ on Sundown Aug. 30 and Jimmy Leahey and the Grey Man Group Aug. 31. Concerts will begin 7 p.m.
Members attend concerts for free, but there is a cost for guests and nonmembers.
The VFW will host a concert benefiting oligodendroglioma brain cancer research featuring the Benny Band and Michael Sherer 2-6 p.m. Aug. 18. There is an admission cost for members, nonmembers and guests.

Learn to country line dance 6-8 p.m. Aug. 21 at Egypt Memorial Park, Hillcrest Lane and Curt Simmons Drive. There is a cost.

Whitehall Lions Club is partnering with Vision to Learn to provide free eye exams and glasses for children in need Aug. 22 at Whitehall High School, 3800 Mechanicsville Road.

Whitehall Lions Club’s 49th annual sweepstakes fundraiser has begun. A donation is requested, but not required, for the Sept. 16 drawing.
Tickets and return envelopes are also available at Whitehall Township Public Library, 3700 Mechanicsville Road.
