Coplay police responded to these and other calls recently.

JULY 14

A 37-year-old male was arrested for an alleged DUI during a traffic stop at North Eighth and Chestnut streets.

Written warnings were issued during traffic stops at South Second and Chestnut streets and South Second and Hokendauqua streets.

JULY 15

A report of retail theft brought officers to Giant Food Stores, 202 Chestnut St. According to police, two juveniles stole almost $200 worth of goods. The investigation is ongoing.

JULY 16

Police were on the scene of a reported domestic disturbance in the unit block of South Second Street.

A traffic citation was issued for a failure to use a turn signal at North Front and North streets, Whitehall. A warning notice was issued at the same location for nonfunctional brake lights.

JULY 17

A security check was conducted in the 100 block of South Second Street.

Officers responded to a mental health call in the 100 block of South Ninth Street.

A traffic citation was issued for a failure to stop at a stop sign at Chestnut and North Ruch streets.

Police assisted a citizen at the municipal pool, 2 Keefer St.

Written warnings were issued during traffic stops at Chestnut and North Front streets and Chestnut and North Third streets.

Officers investigated a report of a suspicious person at Saylor Park.

JULY 18

Police responded to an animal complaint at South Third and Center streets.

Charges are to be filed after a traffic stop at Chestnut and Maple streets. A car was pulled over for an unreadable license plate. On approach, officers spotted a gun under the driver’s seat. The gun has been taken to headquarters as evidence for carrying without a license.

Citations were issued during traffic stops in the 200 block of Chestnut Street and at Bridge and North Front streets.

Written warnings were issued during traffic stops in the 100 block of South Second Street and at Hokendauqua and North Second streets.

JULY 19

Officers responded to a report of a missing elderly female with dementia in the 100 block of South Front Street.

Police investigated burglar alarms in the 800 block of Barbara Drive and the unit block of North Third Street.

A fraud report brought police to the unit block of South Fourth Street.

The department responded to a report of suspicious activity on the Ironton Rail Trail.

A suspicious person in the 300 block of Cherry Street was investigated.

Warnings were issued during traffic stops at South Second and Hokendauqua streets, Chestnut and North Seventh streets and Ninth and Main streets.

Police investigated a report of a theft from a vehicle in the 100 block of North Seventh Street. According to police, $3,000 worth of property was taken, and the investigation is ongoing.

JULY 20

Officers were on the scene of a noise complaint in the unit block of South Second Street.

A welfare check was conducted at Coplay Parkway.

Police assisted a citizen in the 200 block of Chestnut Street.

The department assisted Catasauqua police with a report of a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of Church Alley.

JULY 21

A reported alcohol overdose brought police to the 800 block of Barbara Drive.

Police investigated suspicious activity in the unit block of South Front Street.

Officers responded to a reported appliance fire in the unit block of South Third Street.

A welfare check was conducted at North Front and Chestnut streets.

Police issued an ordinance violation for an open fire in a backyard in the unit block of South Second Street.
