Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St., Catasauqua, held an indoor yard sale Aug. 10 in the church social hall. Proceeds of this yard sale are earmarked for the Public Library of Catasauqua.
The church continues with its efforts to hold events benefiting other organizations. Holy Trinity is active in its efforts to uplift the quality of life in Catasauqua with outreach and collaboration with community organizations.
A number of church volunteers and library board members assembled in the church fellowship room, which was filled with items for sale, and in the kitchen to cook and serve food to attendees.
They followed the Lutheran church tradition of charging a donation only for the food, instead of fixed prices. Pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs with or without sauerkraut, chips, baked goods, water and iced tea were on the menu.
Cheerful volunteers included the library board President George Hillenbrand, of North Catasauqua, and library board members Janice Lathrop, Barb Roth, Suzanne Raferty and Emily Zacharda. Staffing the kitchen grill was church volunteer Al Ulrich. The two cheerful greeters at the entrance of the event were Linda Morris and Amy Feidler.
The Catasauqua library, at Bridge and Third streets, has more than 1,800 books and items for members to borrow. It is housed in an ornate, unique building that was a former church.
The library holds many activities geared for families such as children’s storytime events, tween group, book clubs, Keep Me in Stitches, veterans events and more.
The library mission is “to encourage reading for pleasure and knowledge, to promote lifelong learning through print and electronic resources and to offer services and programs that encourage personal growth, thereby contributing to the quality of life of the communities it serves.”
