ZZ Top

ZZ Top, Foghat, 7 p.m. Aug. 11, Wind Creek Steel Stage at PNC Plaza. Gates open: 5:30 p.m. ZZ Top, an American rock band formed in Houston, Tex., in 1969, consisted of vocalist-guitarist Billy Gibbons, drummer Frank Beard and bassist-vocalist Dusty Hill, until Hill’s death in 2021. Per Hill’s request, he was replaced by longtime guitar tech, Elwood Francis, on bass. Top’s third album, “Tres Hombres” (1973) included the boogie-driven “La Grange,” about Chicken Ranch, a brothel in La Grange, Tex., that inspired the musical, “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.” Albums and hits include: “Fandango!” (1975) with “Tush”; “Degüello” (1979) with “Cheap Sunglasses”; “El Loco” (1981) with “Tube Snake Boogie” and “Pearl Necklace,” and “Eliminator” (1983) with “Gimme All Your Lovin,’” “Legs” and “Sharp Dressed Man.” In 2004, ZZ Top was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Foghat is an English rock band formed in London in 1971. The band’s best-known song is the 1975 hit, “Slow Ride.” Roger Earl, drums, is the only original member of the band.
