The Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank is seeking volunteers to help pack food boxes and bags for the Elderly Food Program. We pack boxes 1:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Do you own a pickup truck or large vehicle? Community Bike Works in Allentown needs volunteers to pick up food donations between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesdays at the Whitehall ALDI on McArthur Road and deliver the donations to us. The Museum of Indian Culture is excited to host Pennsylvania’s oldest Native American festival, the Roasting Ears of Corn Festival Aug. 17-18. Many hands are needed for this important fundraiser, beginning with various setup chores, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 9-11, 14 and 15. The minimum age to volunteer is 16 with adult. Sixth Street Shelter in Allentown is seeking a dedicated volunteer to join our team as a donation coordinator 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays. Neither rain nor snow nor heat nor gloom of night will keep us from needing your help! The Gress Mountain Ranch in Orefield needs assistance with the daily feeding and watering of Stanley Llama, the pigs, goats, horses, ponies, alpacas and other resident animals. Small groups can help with ground maintenance, composting and cleaning of stalls. The minimum age to volunteer is 14, or 10 with parent supervision. Valley Youth House Mentoring Program is interested in connecting with individuals in the Lehigh Valley and Montgomery County areas who possess a strong passion for working with youth in the role of a mentor. Mentors are encouraged to participate in meetings with youth on a biweekly basis and will receive formal and informal training on Valley Youth House best practices.
