Coplay: Trick Stacy concert planned for Aug. 9

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., continues its Friday night concert series with Trick Stacy performing Aug. 9, Sons of Izzy Aug. 16, Video Daze Aug. 23 and Social Call Aug. 30. Doors open 5 p.m.

There is a cover charge.

The borough’s twilight summer concert series is held 6-9 p.m. at Coplay Community Plaza, North Second and Chestnut streets.

The Castaways take the stage Aug. 14, with DNA performing Aug. 28 and 3 Varks Sept. 4.

The Saengerbund will hold its last dining on the terrace evening of the season Aug. 21. There is no cover charge.

Doors open 5 p.m., and the kitchen opens 5-8:30 p.m. Scott Erikson will be playing an acoustic set 6-9 p.m.

The Coplay Community Days festival will be held Aug. 23-25 at Coplay Parkway, Second and Keefer streets. Stay tuned for more information.

American Club of Coplay will hold its annual adult picnic Sept. 7 at the pavilion, 300 Cherry St. There will be a deejay performing 2-5 p.m. The Castaways band takes the stage 6-9 p.m.

Refreshments will be noon-9 p.m., with food available 1-6 p.m.

You must be 18 years old or older to attend. Tickets are available at the club or the hoagie shop.

Paul Boyle, public works director, reminds residents garbage cans in excess of 30 gallons will not be collected.

If you have large items, call the borough office at 610-262-6088 to schedule pickups of items such as sofas, plastic-encased mattresses, chairs, dressers, etc. There is a limit of two per year at no charge.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and nonsweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

If you have a desire to serve Coplay and surrounding communities, consider joining Coplay Fire Company. Volunteer firefighters and volunteer fire police are sought.

If your child or grandchild is a resident of Coplay and is graduating from high school in 2025 and is planning to attend college, university, trade school or the police academy, consider applying for a Coplay Scholarship Fund scholarship.

Two $5,000 scholarship will be awarded. To get an application, send an email to billleiner@aol.com.

Aerobic exercise is held 8:45 a.m. Saturdays and 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in the auditorium at borough hall, 98 S. Fourth St. Bring dumbbells, a towel and a mat to enhance your workout.

There is a small cost.

Delores Chalmers, an Allentown School District teacher who lost her daughter to colon cancer, organized the event. Eighty-six people registered for the event.
