Charles Joshua Handwerk Jr., 92, of Allentown, died July 30, 2024, in St. Luke’s Sacred Heart Hospital. He was the husband of Joyce Handwerk for 55 years. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Charles and Nancy (Prather) Handwerk.

He graduated from Allentown High School and Muhlenberg College. He received a master’s degree in education from Lehigh University.

He taught school for two years in Columbia; then 32 years as a math teacher at Salisbury Middle School.

He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

After his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his wife; son, Keith L. Braim and his wife, Pamela, of Salisbury Township; daughter, Rosaline F. Reinert, of Allentown; two nephews; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sister, Ruby Nicholas; infant sister, Carolina.

No services will be held at his request. Arrangements are entrusted to the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Allentown.
