Salisbury football golf outing Aug. 10

The annual National Night Out will be held 6-8 p.m. Aug. 6 at Salisbury Elementary School. Meet your local police officers, firefighters and EMTs while enjoying free food, music, games, face painting and more. There will be emergency vehicles on display as well as 50/50 drawings, basket raffles and much more. For more information, reach out to Cpl. Kress at 484-661-5862.
The Summer Movie Series continues at the AMC in the Promenade. See a different movie every week Monday and Wednesday. The next movies playing Aug. 5 and 7 will be “Despicable Me 2” followed by “Despicable Me 3” Aug. 12 and 13. This is one fun way to beat the heat this summer. These are the last weeks of the summer movie camp.
Salisbury football will sponsor a golf outing Aug. 10 at the Wedgewood Golf Course in Coopersburg. Cost includes 18 holes of golf with cart, welcome bag, hot dog, beverages and snacks at the turn, an awards buffet dinner as well as prizes and contests. The Salisbury Recreation Advisory Committee is in need of volunteers to help with the plans for the annual tree lighting ceremony 6-7 p.m. Dec. 6 at Franko Park. Members have reached out to various community groups for their help in an effort to enhance the experience for residents and kick off the holiday season. The Salisbury cheerleaders are hosting a Taylor Swift Glam Night. Your kids will have a great time doing hair, nails, making bracelets, dancing and singing 6-7:30 p.m. Aug. 13 in the Salisbury High School main gym. There is a cost per child due at drop off. Registration is required and can be done by emailing Coach Stokes at kstokes@salisburysd.org.
On Aug. 5, Bracalente Construction will begin milling work on the following streets: Salisbury Road from Tweed Avenue to Ueberroth Avenue, Lehigh Avenue from Tweed Avenue to Ueberroth Avenue, Byfield Street from East Susquehanna Street to Salisbury Road, Fairfax Street from East Susquehanna Street to Salisbury Road, Marlow Street from East Susquehanna Street to Salisbury Road, Maumee Avenue from East Susquehanna Street to Salisbury Road, Ueberroth Avenue from East Susquehanna Street to Salisbury Road, Brook Avenue north of East Susquehanna Street, Delaware Avenue north of East Susquehanna Street, Loxley Lane north of East Susquehanna Street, Hillside Road north of East Susquehanna Street, Maumee Avenue north of East Susquehanna Street and Tweed Avenue north of East Susquehanna Street.
The milling is expected to take two to three days, followed by storm sewer repairs and then paving. Door hangers will be placed on properties impacted by the project and no parking signs will be erected in certain areas. Please note: sections of the roadways will be closed at times, but crews will be in the area to ensure residents can still access their homes.

The township yard waste drop off sites are open; the Devonshire site will be open Aug. 1 and 3 and the Franko site will be open Aug. 5, 8 and 10. The sites are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
