William J. Almond

St. Peter Catholic Church member

William J. Almond, 78, of Northampton, died July 25, 2024, at Sacred Heart Assisted Living, Northampton. He was the husband of the late Barbara H. (Eberhardt) Almond for 50 years.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late William P. and Rose H. (Knopf) Almond.

He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was stationed on the USS Norris (DD859).

He was a purchasing agent for various companies throughout his career including, the former Schulmerich Carillons Inc., former Submicron Systems Inc., and FL Smidth. After retiring, he worked in real estate at Prudential Patt, White Real Estate in Bethlehem.

He was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church.

He was active with various social clubs especially, the Northampton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4714 and the Coplay Saengerbund.

He is survived by a daughter, Annette Lerch and husband William; a son, William M. and wife Catherine; three grandchildren, April, Jacob and Chloe; a brother, Michael and wife Bonnie; two sisters, Sylvia Genovese and Mary Rose Frantz and husband Charles; and a companion, Marie.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Aug. 2 at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., Coplay, 18037.

Contributions may be made to the church.
