W. Scott Pearsall

VFW Macungie Post, President

W. Scott Pearsall, 53, of New Tripoli, died July 19, 2024, at his residence of natural causes. He was the loving husband of Gayle E. (Peter) Pearsall for 17 years. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late William and Bessie L. (Long) Pearsall.

He worked at the Barnyard Market and Garden Center and was president of the VFW Macungie Post.

He enjoyed shooting skeet at Rural Sportsmen’s Association, photography, woodworking, playing cornhole, kayaking, landscaping and gardening.

He loved to have family over for picnics and hosting Thanksgiving. He was an excellent cook and was known for his crepes, shotgun shells and a mean smoked brisket. At his picnics he would take us down memory lane with treating us to homemade funnel cakes like our mom used to make. He was known to be quiet but he was also known for his quick wit with always being the first with a great comeback to a joke or to make a joke.

He rescued his dog, Kona and absolutely adored him. He was also an avid Flyers fan.

He is survived by his wife; stepdaughter, Rikki Savidge and her husband, Peter; step-grandchildren, Hunter and Quinn; brother, William A. (Kelly); sisters, Robin Wanamaker (Brian), Lois M. (Albert McCrae), Nancy Hoffman (Alan); mother-in-law, Elaine Peter; brother-in-law, Ernie Lutterschmidt; five nephews; three nieces; his dog, Kona. He was predeceased by a sister, Cathy Lutterschmidt; nephew, Anthony Romig.

Contributions may be made in his memory to Starting Over Animal Rescue, www.startingoveranimalrescue.org, where he found his best friend, Kona.

Services are private. A Celebration of Life is planned noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Macungie VFW.

Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
