North Catasauqua Police Department reminds residents the department can help you find a family member who may have wandered off. North Catasauqua officers are specially trained on the deployment of the Project Lifesaver device, which is critical during a search and rescue emergency.

If you have a family member who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism or other condition, they may qualify for the Project Lifesaver program. The program is free of charge and funded by local donations and grants.

Recently, the police department partnered with South Whitehall Township Police Department, Whitehall Police Department and Coplay Police Department at Dorney Park to locate a missing child who was diagnosed with autism. Thankfully, he was found and was safe.

If you are interested in learning more about the Project Lifesaver program, contact Cpl. Santiago at 610-264-1504 or 610-437-5252 or by email at ssantiago@ncatapd.org.

State Rep. Zach Mako, R-183rd, would like to make residents aware they may have unclaimed property coming their way. With more than one in 10 Pennsylvanians owed some of the state’s $4.5 billion in unclaimed property, the General Assembly has adopted a new law (Act 81) to streamline the return of certain properties.

The Pennsylvania Money Match program authorizes the Treasury to automatically return single-owner properties, valued up to $500 after a thorough identification and verification process. Pennsylvania Money Match will not affect claims for properties valued above $500 or those that have multiple owners or other complexities.

Those claimants will still need to file a claim and provide any required supporting documentation. You can check to see if you have unclaimed property by visiting Treasury’s website at patreasury.gov.

If you need assistance with filing a claim, contact Mako’s office. You do not need to pay anyone to help claim what is yours. Act 81 of 2024 takes effect in mid-September.
