Dorsey L. Rutter, 76, of Allentown, formerly of Orefield, died on July 27, 2024, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and his wife, Mary A. (Rohr) Rutter, were married 54 years.

Born June 20, 1948, in Mount Union, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Leroy and Agnes Jane (Saeger) Rutter.

He was a maintenance apprentice assistant for the Township of South Whitehall for many years before retiring.

He was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, South Whitehall, and a life-member of Tri-Clover Fire Company, Orefield.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Troy A. Rutter and his wife, Kristin; daughter Teresa A. Rutter; sisters Gladys L. Beam and Gertrude M. O’Donnell; grandchildren Savanna A.L. Becker, and Braden T. and Jessica Rutter.

He was predeceased by a sister, Bessie E. Fanus.

Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Aug. 2 at Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Dr. David Charles Smith officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects 6-7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Interment will be private.
