Daryl C. “Gumby” Horning, 59, of New Tripoli, died July 18, 2024.

He and his wife, Gail A. (Schellhamer) Horning, were married 37 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of Shirley C. (Grim) Horning of Orefield and the late Donald C. Horning.

He and his family owned Newton Auto Body Shop, Breinigsville, where he worked his entire life.

He enjoyed hunting, camping and racing.

He loved spending time with his family, and was known for his heart of gold and sense of humor.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Brittany Kohler (Chad) of Oley, and Jessica Carl (Kevin) of New Ringgold; siblings Larry Horning (Lily) of Texas, Patti Phares (Al) of Orefield, and Bonnie Monks (Bill) of New Tripoli; granddaughters Peyton and Brynlee; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Sharon Kern.

His memorial service will take place 11 a.m. Aug. 2 at the Kingdom Life Family Center, 4333 Lime Kiln Road, Orefield.

Calling hours will be 9-11 a.m. with the service to follow.
