Catherine Uff

Catherine Uff, 88, of Allentown, died on July 27, 2024, in her residence.

She and her husband, Ralph H. Uff, were married 69 years.

Their marriage welcomed three sons, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Dante and Mary V. (Faust) Roma.

She was a noninvasive cardiology technician for 20 years at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, before retiring in 2005.

Before that, she co-owned with her husband, Uff Construction Company for 40 years, as well as Country Club Gardens Water Company, and was the secretary for the former Roma Construction for 15 years.

In her younger years, she served as a den mother for Cub Scouts while her sons were growing up.

She was a volunteer and past president of the Junior Aides of Allentown Hospital while serving the pediatric unit.

She enjoyed participating in fundraising events, including working as a volunteer at the annual Coke, food trailer at The Great Allentown Fair.

Every year the many side show entertainers looked forward to being served homemade pies and cakes made by auxiliary members.

She was a lifetime member of the Lehigh Valley Hospital Auxiliary and was one of the original buyers responsible for setting up and merchandising the Lehigh Valley Hospital Gift Shop.

She will be remembered for her quick-witted intelligence, joy for cute sparkly things, humming a perfect tune, her flower garden, and her fierce unconditional love for her family.

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by sons Thomas R. Uff and his wife, Connie, Scott T. Uff, Danny M. Uff and his companion, Kelly Larimer, all of Allentown; brother Thomas Roma of Allentown; grandchildren Michael and his wife, Melissa Uff, Ryan and his wife, Heather Uff, Lexine Uff, Thomas A. Uff, and Thomas R. Uff II and his fiancée, Emily Moss; and great-grandchildren Evan, Addison and Callianne.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Aug. 2 at Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Gus Al-Khal officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 10-11 a.m. before the service. Private interment will follow the service at Grandview Cemetery, South Whitehall.
