Catasauqua: Melody Cruz, Keystones to perform Aug. 2 in concert series

The summer concert series continues at Catasauqua Park and Playground, 501 American St. Melody Cruz and the Keystones will perform 7-10 p.m. Aug. 2 at the park’s amphitheater.

Bring a lawn chair and/or blanket.

Catasauqua Garden Club meets 1 p.m. Aug. 7 at Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua.

The meeting will focus on rain gardens. Sue Drabic, a Penn State Master Gardener, will explain what a rain garden is, how to start one and what plants to put in the rain garden.

Club members will present entries for artistic and horticultural judging. Visitors are welcome to join in the lively discussions.

St. Mary’s Church, 122 Union St., will hold its Sizzlin’ Summer cash bingo Aug. 18.

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The kitchen and doors will open 11:30 a.m., and bingo begins 1 p.m.

There will be 15 games, six specials and a jackpot round. Additional game sheets and specials will be available for purchase. Bring your own daubers but no hard boards.

The kitchen will be selling snacks, bingo favorites and beverages. Other than BYOB, no outside food or beverages are permitted.

Looking ahead, vendors and crafters are needed for the Catasauqua American Legion craft and vendor fair Sept. 28.

Mark your calendar for the Friends of Catasauqua Parks gift card bingo, set for 3-5 p.m. Nov. 16 at Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St. Doors open 2 p.m.

There will be 20 games of bingo. The event will also include food, a basket raffle and 50/50 raffle.
