Bruce R. Moyer

Kentucky Rifles expert

Bruce R. Moyer, 84, of Emmaus, died July 17, 2024, in his residence. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Nathan P. and Kathryn A. (Helwig) Moyer.

He graduated from Governor Mifflin High School in 1957 and earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Albright College in 1961.

He worked as an insurance agent for M & B Insurance until he retired to focus on his passions.

He was an expert on Kentucky rifles, a devoted historian, a passionate naturalist, an artist and a writer.

He could be found exploring flea markets early on a Saturday morning in search of hidden treasures.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of Marsh Hollow Hunting Camp and Kentucky Rifle Association.

Known for his storytelling ability, his sense of humor and his crazy antics, he will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by a daughter, Laura Kastner and her husband, Darren; grandchildren, Liam and Finn Kastner.

A Celebration of Life will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
