Vernon Jerome McCrae, 62, died July 15, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill, due to health complications. A Washington, D.C., native, he migrated to Bloomsburg in 1992 and then to Bethlehem in 2007. He was the husband of Marie McCrae.

He enjoyed music, grilling, watching football and working on home projects.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Melissa Hendryx, Dashawn Lightner, Kaylie Lightner-Levan, Hope Lightner-Levan, Nicholas McCrae and Keith Michael Lightner-Levan; seven grandchildren, Ajmaani Clarke, Aniyah Hendryx, Aijah Hendryx, Adrean Hendryx, Gabriel Lightner, Greyson Lightner and Georgia Lightner; friends, and friends who are family.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Krystal Lightner.
