Boutique sets record by raising $356,000

The combination of over 350 volunteers donating 14,560 hours, a tremendous community response for donations, and patrons supporting the event with their purchases contributed to a record year at the 48th annual Boutique at the Rink cancer fundraiser with earnings over $356,500, according to lead co-chair Carol Jacoby.

The Cancer Support Community, St. Luke’s Hospice and St. Luke’s Cancer Center all benefit from the proceeds.

Donations were accepted from May 3 to 17 and sales days ran for five days from May 28 to June 1 at the Earl E. Schaffer Skating Rink on Illick’s Mill Road.

The event accepts donations of clean, new and gently used items and resells them to the public, often to the same people who have donated items.

Members of the 2024 leadership team are Beth Braithwaite, Mel Carpino, Carol Jacoby and Barbara Vinci. Beata Schaible is the secretary. Volunteer coordinator is Maureen Cort and treasurers are Michelle Beil and Myra Jones. Raffle chair is Jen Gibbs.

A volunteer recognition luncheon was held June 12.
