Falcons reach summer league playoffs

The Salisbury High School boys basketball team has been on a tear lately in the Lehigh Valley Summer League. The Falcons continued their hot streak the last two weeks to solidify a playoff spot and position themselves toward the top of the standings.

The Falcons had three games within the last two weeks and won two of them.

They began by defeating Catasauqua on Tuesday, July 2, 55-46, with Stephen Lozada recording a game-high 14 points.

After the Fourth of July holiday, Salisbury opened the next week by taking down Upper Perkiomen 50-42 behind 17 points from Lozada on Tuesday, July 9.

Last Thursday, however, the Falcons fell 54-48 to first place Lehighton. That was the final game of the regular season portion of the schedule in the Lehigh Valley summer league.

Salisbury finished 8-3 and in third place in the Small School Division. Lehighton and Warren Hills are tied in first place at 9-2. Both teams played this past Tuesday and the Falcons will play one of those two in their first playoff game Wednesday.

If Lehighton wins it will be the one seed and Warren Hills the two, which would mean Salisbury would play the Blue Streaks in the first round of the playoffs. Catasauqua is positioned to be the fourth and final team in the Small School Division playoffs.

In the Large School Division, six teams will make the playoffs with the top two getting first-round byes.
