Cheap Trick, Blue Oyster Cult replace Heart at Allentown Fair

Cheap Trick and Blue Öyster Cult, will kick off the 2024 Great Allentown Fair at 7 p.m. Aug. 28.

The concert announcement was made by Fair officials after the concert by Heart was postponed because of Heart singer Ann Wilson’s cancer treatments.

Heart concert ticket-holders can hold onto their tickets as the tickets will be honored for the rescheduled date, or ticket-holders can request a refund at the ticket point of purchase, Fair officials said.

Gearing up for its 50th anniversary year, Cheap Trick was founded in 1974. Cheap Trick has sold 20 million albums worldwide, including the hits “I Want You to Want Me,” “The Flame,” “Dream Police” and “Surrender.” The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.

The band lineup is Robin Zander, vocals, rhythm guitar; Rick Nielsen, lead guitar; Tom Petersson, bass, and Daxx Nielsen, drums.

Cheap Trick has had 40 international Gold and Platinum certifications and has had its recordings on more than 20 movie soundtracks.

Blue Öyster Cult has been performing and recording for more than five decades, including “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper,” from 1976’s “Agents of Fortune” album; “Godzilla,” from 1977’s “Spectres,” and “Burnin’ for You,” from 1981’s “Fire of Unknown Origin.”

BÖC’s includes the original core duo of vocalist-lead guitarist Donald “Buck Dharma” Roeser and vocalist-rhythm guitarist Eric Bloom, and Richie Castellano, guitar, keyboards; Danny Miranda, bass, and Jules Radino, drums.

Tickets for the concert went on sale at 10 a.m. July 23.
