Stingray girls top Tides in showdown
The Hanover Stingrays and Bethlehem Tides summer swim teams went head-to-head in a Christmas City battle of the Suburban Swim League of the Lehigh Valley on June 11 at Hanover Pool.
The Stingrays prevailed, 336-251, in the final meet of the regular season.
Winners in girls relays were Hanover’s Ashlyn Cepin, Julie Oliver, Lily Molchany, Grace Garcsar in 8 & Under 100 freestyle (1:21.02), Abigail Aguilar, Maggie Guerin, Raya Brandes, Lily Arnold in 9-10 100 medley (1:22.57), and Cameron Alvino, Leah Onia, Katie Bruno, Angelina Dechert in 13 & Over 200 medley (2:01.15).
Bethlehem’s Lena Blazure, Alexandra Yerk, Lele Waldman, and Camila Wilson won the 11-12 100 medley (1:02.35).
Bethlehem’s Shiann Hilbert took first place in the 13-14 50 freestyle (34.01), and Hanover’s Chelsea Hearn was first in the 15 & Over 50 free (26.56).
First place finishers in breaststroke were Bethlehem’s Finley Ogara in 8 & Under 25 (24.81), Hanover’s Maggie Guerin in 9-10 25 (20.28), Bethlehem’s Alexandra Yerk in 11-12 50 (35.57), Hanover’s
Ashleigh Baluta in 13-14 50 (47.25), and Bethlehem’s Alivia Deemer in 15 & Over 50 (33.42).
The Tides swept the 100 IM with Alexandra Yerk in the 11-12 100 (1:14.09), Lena Blazure in the 13-14 (1:15.60), and Audrey Bloss-Ferry in the 15 & Over (1:07.63).
Butterfly winners were Hanover’s Lily Molchany in the 8 & Under 25 (24.01), Bethlehem’s Abigail Yerk in the 9-10 25 (18.07), Bethlehem’s Lena Blazure in the 11-12 50 (32.13), Bethlehem’s Lele Waldman in the 13-14 50 (32.78), and Bethlehem’s Audrey Bloss-Ferry in the 15 & Over 50 (28.87).
Top swimmers in backstroke were Hanover’s Ashlyn Cepin in 8 & Under 25 (24.27), Hanover’s Abigail Aguilar in 9-10 25 (20.69), Bethlehem’s Lena Blazure in 11-12 50 (32.97), Bethlehem’s Camila Wilson in 13-14 50 (37.52), and Hanover’s Cameron Alvino in 15 & Over 50 (30.39).
Freestyle winners were Hanover’s Ashlyn Cepin in 8 & Under 25 (17.91), Hanover’s Maggie Guerin in 9-10 25 (16.50), Bethlehem’s Lele Waldman in 11-12 50 (28.50), Bethlehem’s Shiann Hilbert in 13-14 100 (1:23.56), and Hanover’s Chelsea Hearn in 15 & Over 100 (59.62).
