Seed library available for resident’s gardens

The Lower Milford Township Board of Supervisors met July 18 for its regular meeting where the board began by approving the minutes from the June 20 meeting and authorizing the payment of July bills. They then reviewed the township treasurer’s report, which showed a general fund balance of $2,103,546.

Various departmental reports were presented, including updates from the administrator, zoning, public works and Macungie Ambulance.

The fire company provided a report covering the first half of 2024, while Southern Lehigh Public Library representative Ellen Deebel delivered the library report. She reported there is a new seed library for residents’ gardens. She said there will be a lot of smaller fundraisers going on this year and asked people in the community to contribute if possible.

The Macungie Ambulance Corps responded to seven calls in Lower Milford Township. Additionally, the Lower Milford Fire Company showcased its number of incidents dating back to the beginning of the year. In total, they have responded to 68 incidents.

In old business, the board gave a small update on the vacation of Janes Lane. There are still ongoing discussions with residents who will be affected, as they are looking for an easement. Next, the board reviewed a proposal from the Urban Research and Development Corporation for the Village of Limeport Implementation Plan. No decision was made on the proposal as the board decided to get further information.

The board also discussed bid materials for the township office roof replacement.

Tabled was a well isolation waiver request for 6739 Glen Road as additional material and documentation was requested.

The board then ratified a stipulation agreement for SJC Development Group, Inc. to extend the deadline for submitting construction and land development plans. They also tabled an offer of compensation for the Tarzian Easement to access township property on County Line Road.

New business included issuing a stop work order for Limeport Commons and approving requests for fire police assistance from Emmaus and Upper Saucon Township police departments for two upcoming events. The Upper Saucon Police Department requested help for National Night Out Aug. 5 and the Emmaus Police Department requested help for the Emmaus Halloween Parade Oct. 19.

Next, the board approved a refund of 2024 real estate tax for a property on Sheridan Road due to a veteran’s exemption.

A zoning hearing board appeal for a variance and special exception for a home-related business on Church View Road was addressed and opposed; furthermore, the board approved Limeport Commons’ request for escrow release #3, which totaled just over $154,000. They also ratified the filing of the Reith appeal.

The meeting concluded with a review of correspondence, including the July Social Security newsletter, followed by public comments and adjournment.

The Lower Milford Township Board of Supervisors holds regular meetings 6:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month and workshop meetings 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month. The board members are: Ellen L. Koplin: chair, Lowell F. Linde: vice chair and Timothy E. Cougle: supervisor.

The supervisors meet at the township building, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road, Coopersburg.
