Plan for some fun at National Night Out Aug. 6

The Salisbury Township Police Department invites you to National Night Out 6-8 p.m. Aug. 6 at Salisbury Elementary School. This is a super fun event where you can meet your local police, firefighters and EMT staff and check out the cool vehicles they drive. There will be free food, drinks, games, face painting, basket raffles and more. If you would like to donate a basket for the raffle or need more information about the event, contact Cpl. Do you have a kindergarten student starting this August? The Salisbury Elementary School PTO is hosting Popsicle playdates throughout the summer to help the youngest members of our school get to know each other and make new friends with other kindergartners. The next two playdates will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. July 25 at Laubach Park, 1600 Lehigh Ave., Allentown and 10-11 a.m. at Frank McCullough Sr. Park, formerly Green Acres Park, 2732 Green Acres Drive, Allentown. Sounds like a good time to me.

The Salisbury junior varsity and varsity soccer teams partnering with Lehigh Valley Core FC will hold a one day soccer clinic at Salisbury High School July 29. The clinic for students in grades 7-12 will be 9-11 a.m. and will focus on technical skills and team building. The clinic for students in kindergarten through sixth grade will run 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will focus on soccer skills. All skill levels are welcome. Salisbury cheerleading registration is open until July 28. Children ages 4-12 can register at www.syasports.net. Practices begin at the end of July/early August. For questions contact Rebecca at 610-428-4853.

The Jerusalem Singers will hold its annual concert at Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church 7:30 p.m. July 31. An offering to support The Gift of Music will be taken.

Salisbury Township is looking for a drop-off center operator for the rest of the 2024 season at the end of November. This is a part-time position at both Franko and Devonshire drop-off centers, with hours of 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays. Responsibilities include checking resident IDs, directing traffic and making sure everything being dropped off is appropriate for the center. Yard waste drop-offs are open. The Franko site will be open July 25 and 27. Devonshire will be open July 29, Aug. 1 and 3. As always, hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
