Gerald “Jerry” T. Melady, 83, of Schnecksville, formerly of Bethlehem, died July 19, 2024, in Bethlehem North Skilled Nursing.

He was the husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (McKee) Melady.

Born Dec. 8, 1941, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Frederick A. Melady Sr. and Catherine (Black) Melady.

He worked in the shipping department of the former E.F. Houghton Inc., Fogelsville for 42 years before retiring.

He was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church, Bethlehem, and attended St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Orefield.

In addition to his loving wife of 59 years, he is survived by a son Gerald T. Melady II and his wife, Sheri, of Schnecksville; grandson Jacob T. Melady of Falls Church, Va.; and son-in-law David Eschbach and his wife, Debbie, of Northampton.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Susan Eschbach; and siblings Frederick A. Melady, Jr. and Theresa Mann.

A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. July 25 at Allen Union Cemetery, Northampton.

Family and friends may pay their respects 9-10 a.m. Thursday in Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville.
