Barry C. Oswald
Barry C. Oswald, 77, of York Springs, Adams County, died July 17, 2024, at his residence.
He and his wife, Linda M. (Bailey) Oswald, were married 55 years.
Born Dec. 18, 1946, in New Tripoli, he was the son of Anna Lou J. (Bear) Oswald of Allentown and the late Paul J. Oswald.
A graduate of Northwestern Lehigh School District and Pennsylvania State University, he earned undergraduate and Master’s degrees in agriculture education and agronomy.
His career in local public service included 18 years as vocational agriculture teacher and FFA advisor in Lower Dauphin and Bermudian Springs school districts.
State public service began with the Pennsylvania Department of Education as a vocational technical consultant to local education agencies in Adams, Franklin and York counties.
Service continued and included responsibilities as state agriculture education and FFA advisor, youth and development services supervisor, programs manager and retired as assistant director in the Bureau of Career and Technical Education with 36 years of public service in education.
In addition to his loving wife and mother, he is survived by sons Brian M. Oswald (Jennifer) of Dover, Michael B. Oswald (Gina) of Boiling Springs, and Darren P. Oswald of Hanover; brothers Neil P. Oswald (Mary Ann) of Kempton, Ray S. Oswald (Ann) of Kutztown, and Steve J. Oswald (Brenda) of Coplay; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be 11 a.m. Aug. 24 at Zwingli United Church of Christ, 403 W. King St., East Berlin, Pa.
Before the service, a visitation with the family will begin 10 a.m.
