Tucker J. Wessner, beloved NWL student, football player dies unexpectedly

Tucker J. Wessner, 16, of Germansville, died unexpectedly the evening of July 16, 2024, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of James F. “Jake” and Melinda S. (Hamm) Wessner.

A beloved student at Northwestern Lehigh High School, he would have been entering his junior year.

He also attended the Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, Schnecksville, where he studied precision machining.

He proudly wore jersey No. 53 for the Northwestern Lehigh High School Football Team, playing for both JV and Varsity.

He was a hard worker and a dedicated member of the Boy Scouts of America.

In first grade, he joined Cub Scout Pack 588, and then continued to work his way up to Boy Scout Troop 89, New Tripoli. He was working toward becoming an Eagle Scout.

A member of Jacob’s Church and Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club, both in New Tripoli, and County Line 4x4 Roughriders, Kutztown, he worked part time this summer at his family’s business, JM Dirtworx LLC Excavating, New Tripoli.

He was loved by all who knew him and made friends everywhere he went.

In addition to his loving parents, he is survived by his sisters Marissa G. Wessner and her companion, Austin M. Schlegel, Shelby M. Wessner and Kacie L. Wessner, all at home; maternal grandmother Janice D. “Susie” (Silfies) Hamm of New Tripoli; paternal grandmother Carol I. (Snyder) Wessner of Germansville; maternal great-grandfather Harold A. Silfies of Walnutport; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Marlin E. “Hoagie” Hamm, and paternal grandfather, George W. Wessner.

His funeral service will be 11 a.m. July 23 in the Northwestern Lehigh High School auditorium, 6493 Route 309, New Tripoli, with a calling period 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

The Rev. Scott L. Shay will officiate.

Interment following service in Jacob’s Union Cemetery, 8373 Kings Highway New Tripoli.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Boy Scout Troup 89, sent to P.O. Box 30, New Tripoli, PA 18066 and/or to the church, 8373 Kings Highway, New Tripoli.
