National Night Out scheduled 6-8 p.m. Aug. 7

Alburtis Borough Council convened for its regular meeting July 10 in borough hall.

There were no public comments at the start of the meeting.

In her report, Mayor Kathleen Palmer thanked the Alburtis Area Community Center for hosting the nicely attended Alburtis Community Day and Carnival over the Independence Day holiday.

This was followed by a detailed police report received from Chief Tony Alsleben. The report showed a large drop in incidents from May to June, 131 incidents to 86.

Council then approved the meeting minutes from June 26 and authorized the payment of bills dated July 10.

The engineer’s report was presented, outlining current and upcoming infrastructure projects in the borough.

The Macungie Ambulance Corps provided an update on emergency medical services, reporting 12 calls to the borough of Alburtis in June. Additionally, they sent a letter thanking all the municipalities committing funds toward the newly in-service ambulance and equipment.

In administrative matters, council acknowledged significant grant awards. The Chamber Main Street Foundation grant and the Local Shared Account grants were recognized as valuable contributions to the borough’s development initiatives. The Chamber Main Street grant was for $1,000, while the two LSA grants were for $11,000.

The Alburtis Police Department’s upcoming National Night Out event, scheduled 6-8 p.m. Aug. 7, received enthusiastic support from council. This community-building event aims to strengthen police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

The meeting concluded with an executive session to discuss personnel matters.

The next Alburtis Borough Council meeting will be held 7 p.m. July 24.
