Thomas E. Lakata, 86, of Fellowship Community, Whitehall, and formerly of Hauto, Carbon County, died July 8, 2024, at Fellowship Terrace. He was the husband of Lenora (Sandri) Lakata for 59 years.

Born in Coaldale, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Lapos) Lakata.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean era.

He was employed as a sewing machine mechanic at the former Kai Jay Manufacturing in Nesquehoning for 38 years before retiring in 2002.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Dr. Thomas J. with Rebecca of Fogelsville; a daughter, Yvonne M. Gibble with Chad of Orefield; and two grandchildren, Thomas P. and Lauren E.

He was predeceased by four siblings, Joseph F., Frank, Dorothy McConnell and Margaret Marouchoc.
