Michael R. Gibson Sr., 76, of Catasauqua, died July 7, 2024, at his residence. He was the husband of Karen M. Gibson for 52 years.

Born in Bastrop, La., he was the son of the late Steve Sr. and Boyce (Wells) Gibson.

After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. He remained in the Army for 23 years, retiring as sergeant 1st class. He then worked for the Nestle Corporation Distribution Center, Fogelsville, as a forklift operator for 15 years before retiring in 2015.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael R. Jr. and wife Beth of Whitehall; a daughter, Claudia K.B. Comittino with Craig of Pittstown, N.J.; two brothers, Steve Jr. and wife Barbara of Slidell, La., and Harry and wife Martha of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Rachel, Sarah and Katherine; and nieces and nephews.
