Concession stand approved for Coplay pool season

During the July 9 Coplay Borough Council meeting, council approved and contracted concessions for the municipal pool during the 2024 season.

The pool is open noon-7 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays and is closed Mondays. The last day for sales at the concession stand will be Aug. 17.

Council also approved leasing the Saylor Parkway pavilion for the annual Coplay Community Days festival, set for Aug. 23-25. Additionally, the agenda included a $500 donation for the event.

Planning ahead, Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association was approved to use the municipal gym for the annual holiday show and tree lighting, set for Dec. 5.

The meeting agenda also included police department business, such as the financing of a 2024 police pursuit Durango for $64,579.63. Additionally, the agenda noted a police vehicle is to be put out for bid once it is decommissioned.

The approval of a Civil Service test for a full-time police officer, with testing scheduled for Aug. 3, was also on the agenda, as was a $2,500 donation for the fire department to supplement a part-time driver position.

The next workshop and regular meetings are set for 7 p.m. Aug. 6 and 13, respectively, at the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St.
